| There are many interesting historical towns and villages scattered throughout the area. Iznajar is just 7 kms from Villa Castillejo and is nestled in the hills of the Andalucian countryside and sports one of the oldest Moorish castles in the region as well as an ancient church (sixteenth century) which boasts a sail vault and an apse with caisson ceiling. With its tranquil narrow streets and traditional tapas bars it is a way of life to be embraced and enjoyed. Lake Iznajar, on which Iznajar and Villa Castillejo sit, stretches out for over 20 miles and attracts world class fishing enthusiasts. Competitions are held most weeks and Barbel, Carp and Tench amongst others are plentiful. There is also a beautiful clean beach which proves very popular in the summer months when a swim can prove not only refreshing but a welcome break from the midday sun, as does the lakeside bar. For the more enthusiastic there is canoeing or dinghy sailing. | ![]() The Village Of Iznajar |
